Questions About Heaven?

Ask yourself this question, "If I were to die today, am I 100% sure that I am on my way to heaven?" Whether your answer was "I think so, I hope so, or I don't really know.", the good news is that the Bible says that you can know for sure that heaven is your eternal home - "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life..." (1 John 5:13)

The reason that God gave man His Word (the Bible) is so that we could have complete confidence that we will spend eternity with Him. In order for you to make heaven your home, there are a few things that you must understand.

First, you must realize that God's Word says we are all sinners and our sin has separated us from a Holy God - "For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

Second, you must realize that as a sinner you owe a penalty - "For the wages (payment) of sin is death..." (Romans 6:23a) This death is described in the Bible as the second death, eternal separation from God in the lake of fire, where religious, as well as ungodly, sinners go. No imperfect sinner can pay his own sin debt because God demands a perfect sacrifice for sin.

Third, you must realize that Jesus Christ, God's perfect sacrifice, has already paid our sin debt - "But God commendeth (proved) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) When Jesus died on the cross, He paid for all of our sins and bridged the gap that separated us from God. Jesus Christ was not a sinner, and so God took all of our sins and placed them on Jesus at the cross. While Jesus was bearing all of our sins in His own body, God punished Him in our place to pay the sin debt that we owe. Jesus became our substitute. Jesus rose from the grave and is alive today.

Fourth, you must repent; (turn from) your sin and receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour - "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13) Simply pray a prayer like this: “Dear God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I deserve to pay my own sin debt. I believe You sent your Son Jesus to pay for my sin on the cross. I put my faith in Jesus Christ as my Savior. Please save me from hell, and give me the wonderful gift of eternal life in heaven. Thank you for saving me and making me Your child. Amen”
